And all
they talk about
is the curse that befalls
children who lose their way—
who make their parents’ hearts ache.
But what of parents
who break their children’s hearts?
Mothers,
fathers,
dad, mom—
parents who fail
to be.
They aren’t the only ones
who shed tears.
Children do too.
