we have forgotten
what prayers
are truly
meant for—
why there exist prayers—
why we do it,
and why we must all do it—
not only in moments of need,
and certainly not only
to show our appreciation.
Because, in all honesty,
those aren’t the only reasons—
and they shouldn’t be
for that purpose alone.
The true essence of prayer isn’t about that—
it never is.
