Random Leaf #1613

"Does the heart need be tug to strum kindness?"

"Oh! So, we're going poetic now. Care to elaborate?"

"Imagine seeing a homeless man begging for food. You hear his stomach grumbling. You see his hands shaking. But you noticed he isn't too old. In fact, he is younger than your father. His muscles, arms and parts of him visible, is oddly shaped meant for a laborer. Yet he is there begging. Would you be obligated to help or have this certain hesitation. A question set in your mind, should you help him? Or if in case you decided to help after thinking hard in a very short amount of time, a lingering thought, should you have helped him?"

"A person who is fit for work is asking for help. Depending on the situation, maybe I would have helped the beggar. Or, maybe not. I don't know. Maybe I will. Maybe I won't."

"Imagine hearing a chat of two brothers. One clearly older, but not that old, and the other younger, but not that young. A highschooler and a gradeschooler. The older one promising a far better future for the two as long the younger one have to be patient and be resilient with whatever their facing. Let's make it more clear, shall we? The two are celebrating the younger one's birthday. Due to circumstance, they, or rather the older one, could only afford to have a single meal meant just for one person. The younger one asks why they only have one set of meal, the older one clearly lies and says  he isn't that hungry and goes on to give the who meal to his younger brother. You who overhears this conversation, given that you are in that certain scenario, you're allowed to, would you do something about it?"

"Does it mean I can giv-"

"This same given is also applied with the first one as well, regarding the homeless man. Now, tell me, between the two, to whom are you more inclined to be kind to?"
