Random Leaf #1568 IG

“Tell me something.
Is this true?”

“What is?”

“Would a hero save someone precious to them...
even if it meant sacrificing the greater good?”

“Does the hero know he’s a hero?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean—
is he a hero for everyone,
or someone who only calls himself one?”

“Someone who only—”

“Someone who only calls himself one,
a self-proclaimed hero—
a hero who bears the name only for himself,
not for everyone else.”

“And does that matter?
Whether he knows what he is or not?”

“It does.
A hero for everyone weighs every consequence.
Though only human, he acts with reason—
often at the cost of his own peace.
Sometimes he commits an injustice—
to a few, or even to himself—
because selflessness defines his sense of heroism.”

“So he’d give up something...
or someone dear to him...
for the greater good?”

“He would.
Not without regret,
not without consequence—
but he would.”

“And what of the others you mentioned before?”

“The other two—
the hero of his own story,
and the one they call the knight.”
