Is not the same with death.
Lust may linger with the scent
of suffering and despair.
But in the face of the afterlife,
of which not all but the evil doers
knows of what is to come, falls prey
easily of the unknown.
Uncertainy is all there is.
In fact, we may even be praying
to the wrong gods or goddesses
or even worse, the rules we place
so high above might be mistakes
and sin we are supposed to be aware of.

And the taste of blood
is not the same as death.
Lust clings to the scent
of suffering and despair.
But before the afterlife—
of which most evildoers
know what is to come—
they succumb to the unknown.
Uncertainty—
is all there is.
We may even be praying
to the wrong gods—
or goddesses—
worse still, the rules we raise so high
might themselves be mistakes,
the very sins
we were meant to beware—
